Unfortunately we have all seen fantasy sims come and go with terrifying speed. It seems that if they last a year they are doing well. To combat this we built Telacia. And we are not going to close. The reason for this is that we don't care about player numbers. It has, if we are begin honest, taken a while for us to come to the decision to open at all. In the end, we are quite happy roleplaying amongst ourselves, telling our own stories. So if you are concerned about the sim closing due to low numbers? Don't be. Its just not going to happen.

This sim has been built over 6 months and, in April of 2024, we are still not finished. In fact we are likely never to be finished. Part of the fun of having a place like this is the building and recreating of it and that is something  that we want to work into the way that Telacia operates. We want our stories to have serious and visible effects on the various locations. Maybe Port Jaul gets raided and needs to be rebuilt. Maybe an infection seeps into the waters of the forest and poisons the trees, maybe the mine caves in. Who knows? Its an approach to roleplay that we feel that we used to have, before things got so serious.

There are no factions or race groups, we have no created them because we want all the groups to be player driven. The sim will provide a lore and some events, but we will leave it up to the players to form their own groups and, with the support of the admin team, functions. In other words, this will be a player driven sim. The only thing necessary for a player group is a shared vision and a couple of willing players, so use your creativity.

We decided to go with freeform RP for a few reasons. Firstly, the time and skill to make a HUD is lacking, and secondly, we find that HUDs tend to make RP gamier and ultimately creates a dynamic of people sitting on sim to farm stipends or worse still, engaging in Pay To Win. There is no HUD. We want no HUD. BEGONE le HUD!

We want to be story driven. We don’t want you to camp on sim just so that our numbers are up. We’re not interested in being the most popular sim. If you want to come here to take pictures, do it. If you want to only be here when the close group of friends you prefer to RP with are here, that’s fine. If you want to only show up for the big events, that’s totally up to you. Sure, the more you put in, the more you will get out, but we are not here to have the highest sim traffic. Essentially, we hope that people want to write stories, and we do not expect you to be here all of the time. We hope that you will love the place as much as we love it.

We are encouraging people to see the sim as changeable, and this also applies to characters. We will never force death on someone but to keep things fresh people will die... sometimes important people that will need to be replaced. Isn't it fabulous that things can change?
